C'mon. Every self respecting internet forum has one of these by now. Cut and paste, brothers.

Elvis Costello and the Attractions (oh, what a surprise, Ross has posted something about Elvis Costello) kick seven shades of shit out of 'Lipstick Vogue' at some festival or other as it wees it down with rain.

Oh fuck, and this. If I could somehow distil all the things I like, then the idea of a red silhouetted figure with jaws in his forehead would pretty much cover it:
Still haven't got around to buying it. I finished watching the second series of 'Lost' yesterday which was overall a marked drop off in quality from the first one, seeing as how the whole thing now smacks more than a touch of 'we're making this shit up as we go along'.
SPECULATIVE SPOILER BELOW
I was tired, but I detected a few brief hints along the way that the resolution might even be 'they're in purgatory' which is wank beyond wank.

I gave up after the end of the first series of Lost as it was too addictive for no expected pay-off. I think I'd heard that speculation as well, that would be fairly irritating.
Seffers now has the first series of The Wire, so you could try borrowing it from those guys, if you don't fancy buying it.

On an idea first mooted by Roland. There's a possibility (if anyone can be bothered) of doing some kind of communal podcast. I was thinking along the lines of whenever anyone finds an interesting mp3 they'd like to share with the exclusive ckgt readership, they could upload it to the CKGT podcast. Then we each point our iTunes (or whatever) to the podcast address, and we all get a new mp3 of something interesting whenever someone uploads one.
Obviously arty people like Roland could also do audio plays and stuff as well. Anything basically. I was thinking mainly of music, but anything goes really.
I have no idea of the history behind 'MC Dicko', some kind of rapping white misogynist 12 year old from the Chester region, but someone's done a video for one of his tracks, and something suggests they were taking the piss.
In the unlikely event you've never seen it, here's possibly the finest music video ever made. And if you have seen it, watch it again. It's even better than you remember it being!
(NB :- How do you make links on here clickable again? It must be pretty tiresome for whoever's doing it to keep sorting my cut and paste efforts out each time I post something)

When you click "Reply to Post", there is a tiny link just below the text box saying "add a link". This inserts a bit of text into your text box saying: TYPE YOUR LINK TEXT HERE
Then you just replace the bit that says http://www.TYPE_YOUR_WEBSITE_HERE.com with the actual web address, then you replace the bit that says TYPE YOUR LINK TEXT HERE with whatever you want the link text to say.
It's a fairly kludgy way of inserting links, and for that I'm sorry. Really I should write some code that automatically converts links, but I haven't got around to it. Sorry about that. And I don't mind converting text to links. It just reminds me that I really should get around to making it automatic.

That's superb, I also saw that only once and have never forgotten it.
Well, that was a valiant effort, so I counter that with Morrissey and Johnny Marr on a bus with a bunch of kids going to Kew Gardens where they meet Sandie Shaw in a bush. It's copied off a fairly ropey video, but you can still see it. It really happened.
KID: Where are we going?
MORRISSEY: We're going mad.
KID: I thought we were going to Kew Gardens
(MORRISSEY turns to camera and does an 'arrrrrrrggghhhh!' face)
'The Cat Came Back' = no sleep for me tonight unless the dodgy kids by the Esso garage in Longfield are selling Mogadon.

My friend Tom argues passionately that the video for Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt" is the best video ever. I'm not sure though. That Roots Manuva one was pretty darned good.

Apparently OK Go have a bit of a thing for "outrageous viral internet video sensations". Here's their latest, a choreographed dance routine on treadmills. Having just got back from holiday, I may be a bit late on this one, so you might all already have seen it.

I can't believe I didn't post this before. Classic example of the genius of Adam Buxton. His character Pavel Scracinic the Russian cartoonist obssessed with darkness and pain, directs an episode of Pokemon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5A2OmrzUtWI

I'm using Firefox on a Mac. But I think is odd with our connection because lots of slightly odd things keep happening to my emails, postings and stuff. maybe its jaunted, whooooo.

Hang on, I've just realised you can embed videos. If you just copy and paste the whole of the thing at the side labelled "embed". Here's my favourite (admittedly, rather childish) Derek and Clive sketch. EMBEDDED.
This is routinely cited by animation enthusiasts as one of the best early cartoons ever made. I'd go with that. On one side you've got Mickey Mouse whistling whilst steering a boat, on the other you've got...
'Bimbo's Initiation'. You'd hope for his efforts that the dog gets to shag the woman at the end of all this, and you can't say that about many pieces of entertainment that are legally available.

Damn, Stage Fights, yes. I think it's time for my bi-annual promise to knuckle down and finish writing all the code for that. I'll start work on it this weekend.

Here are a bunch of short films based on Fischli & Weiss's seminal Der Lauf der Dinge (a chain reection film that some tosser ripped off to make a Honda advert and then passed off as their own work, tosser!). They are cute in a way that only Japanese stuff can be:
And a short extract from the rather more dangerous, violent and large original:
I loved 'Livin' Doll' and reading my cousin's copies of 'Bachelor Boys' and 'Neil's Book Of The Dead' (despite understanding about 10% of them) but wasn't allowed to stay up and watch The Young Ones, so Mayall on Jackanory was as good as it got. I still think it's a great performance. He looks like he's having a brilliant time doing it.

After randomly finding out / remembering after an eighteen year blank that I really liked Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears yesterday (it was strange, somebody in the office was playing the intro titles from Youtube on their computer, and I was all, like, "Jesus, I remember that title sequence really well" in a slightly disturbing "Jason-Bourne-Discovering-He-Can-Kill-With-His-Hands" type way), and then this morning hearing some weird debate about lack of UK produced children's TV, I was wondering, did I only watch American stuff on TV when I was a child? Apart from Rik Mayall who I idolised, I can't think of much else that I watched.
Not sure what point I'm making really. Maybe I just don't think that cynical, exploitative American children's cartoons are all that bad after all...
Sorry for the repetition. This clip was what I was actually looking for when I posted that Bowie thing and it's finally surfaced.
Bowie does 'Young Americans' on the same show. Despite looking ready for the grave and with the old Columbian flu preventing him from even attempting the falsetto bits, this is a brilliant performance of my favourite Dayyyyyvid song. He was storing his own wee in the fridge and living off peppers, milk and gak at this point so it's a wonder he can even remember the words.

Alberto just reminded me of the totally awesome "Saraghina Rumba" scene in La Dolce Vita:
Which reminds me, how about a ranking (complete with youtube links) for best dancing scene in a film. Here's the dancing in the cafe scene from Band A Part scene to start us off with:
I wanted to find one of Cabiria's dancing scenes from Nights of Cabiria, but it wasn't on youtube.

the referentialness is cool but the best part of that sequence in Band a Part is when they switch of the music and you see the actors clomping about in total silence. thats my favorite bit. Proof, if proof were needed that American filmmakers, even the radical ones are afraid to let the machinations of film making become apparent in their fantasy worlds. Rant!
It was before the encore at a Bluetones gig a couple of weeks ago at Shepherds Bush. The 'na na na's are from the last song they played before they went off. The singer said with tongue in cheek that they wouldn't come back out unless the crowd were sufficiently sycophantic and what you see there was the response. I'm amused as fuck that my fizzog is dead centre.
